Melvin Fernandes a celebrated sound recordist and studio construction expert delivered a special lecture on Oct. 19 2005 and spent a day with the JMI students

Surjit Singh, an expert on Public Understanding of Science working at National Institute of Science Technology and Development Studies, took a two day workshop (Oct. 22 & 23, 2005) of JMI students on science communications.

P. SAINATH, Asia's leading development journalist, visited JMI on Oct 24, 2005 and interacted with students. He spoke on the development communication and role of Media.

Prof. Hester du Plessis, Department of Art, Design and Architecture, University of Johannesburg, South Africa, visited JMI and spent 15 days from Nov. 5 to 25, 2005. She taught development communication and research methodologies.

Jugal Kishore, a leading actor, director and playwright spent three days with the students of JMI, he took a workshop on acting, body movements, concentration, use of facial expressions and voice projection. It was a special course for television anchors held from Dec. 1 to 4, 2005.

Amitabh Panday, an amateur astronomer came to JMI on Dec. 7, 2005, with telescope. It was a special programme on star gazing. The intense and exciting scientific discussion continued till mid night.

From Dec. 10 to 12, 2005, Anoop Kaur, a news anchor who has 10 years of experience in various channels visited JMI and interacted with students. She spoke on ‘Structure of News Channels and How a News Takes Birth’. She also gave demonstrations of how the news is anchored and did exercises with students.

Hon’ble Dr. AR Kidwai, Governor of Haryana, inaugurated the renovated shooting studio of JMI on Dec. 26, 2005. A delegation of 20 NRIs, and about 300 dignitaries from Lucknow, Barabanki and Faizabad also graced the occasion.

Rakesh Andania, a recipient of many documentary film awards, producer and director stayed with the students of JMI for two days Jan 5 to 7, 2006 and conducted a workshop on the ‘Important Elements of a Documentary Film’.

Nimish Kapoor, Vigyan Prasar (Department of Science and Technology, Govt.), gave lecture on “Science Communication and Science Awareness Campaigns’ on Jan 12, 2006.

On Jan. 25, 2006, JMI organised an educational tour of its students to visit CNN, IBN telecast station at Noida (UP) and met Rajdeed Sardesai and Ananya Chatterjea. Students also visited CPC, Doordarshan, Delhi.

On Jan. 26 & 27, 2006 students of JMI video recorded the proceedings of ‘National Consultation on Communalism’ organised by Anhad, Delhi.

IBM experts visited the institute on Jan. 28 to 29, 2006, to train students on I-Mac system, FCP, Pro-tools and sound mixers.
